(Louisville, Ky) ESN’s expert prognosticator Professor DW is challenging all to his 2nd annual Kentuckly Derby…DERBY!! contest. The top handicapper will win a day for 8 at Emerald Downs and a $100 cash voucher. There are prizes for our place finish or 2nd place which is a day for 6 at Emerald Downs and a $75 cash voucher and our show prize or 3rd place gets a day for 4 and a $50 cash voucher.
It’s easy to play, you must be 18 and then click on the Professor DW Kentucky Derby…DERBY!! link, fill out your contact info and then make your selections of 1 horse you think will win, a horse you think will finish 2nd and one to take 3rd place.
You will get a “pretend” $2 win, place and show ticket on your 1st place selection, a “pretend” $2 place and show ticket on your 2nd place pick and a “pretend” $2 show ticket on your 3rd place selection. You will also recedive a $1 straight exacta ticket to your 1st place finish to your 2nd place choice and a $1 trifecta ticket to your 1st place pick to your 2nd place choice to your 3rd place horse.
If your 1st place choice horse wins you will be credited with the $2 win, place and show pay-offs. If your 1st place choice runs 2nd then you will get the $2 place and show ticket returns. If your 3rd place horse wins you will only get the show return. In other words you get the value for the exact tickets your choice receives.
To win the exacta your 1st place horse must win and 2nd place horse must finish 2nd or they would need to deadheat or tie for the win for you to get credit. The trifecta you must pick the top 3 in exact order and you would get credit for the trifecta pay-out.
There is a tie-breaker and that is your guess at what the $1 Superfecta wager will pay in the 2025 Kentucky Derby and it goes down to the penny. Our Price is Right rule is also in effect for this and you can’t go over. If you guess and are literally off by 1 cent and someone guesses $1 they win because they didn’t go over. So keep that in mind and it’s only in case of ties.
