The King’s Knights came into the evening in the midst of a turnaround season for head coach Danny Calles. After a 4-7-2 record last year, King’s invaded Sunset Stadium with a 7-2-1 mark. The lone tie came against defending State Champion and #1 ranked Overlake. King’s in their last match defeated Bear Creek 7-0. Cascade Christian won their last six matches in a row after falling to Vashon Island several weeks ago. The Cougars upended Charles Wright Academy in their last match by a count of 6-0.

Cascade Christian got the scoring started early in a sign of things to come. Josiah Gopaul fired a shot by Nehemiah Hostetler in the fifth minute to put the Cougars in front. Kyle Hughes tacked on a goal late in the half to put Cascade Christian up 2-0. The Hughes goal was set up by Josiah Gopaul from goalkeeper Taylor Yeh. The Cougars took the 2-0 into halftime.

In the second half, Cascade Christian put the match out of reach. Josiah Gopaul registered a pair of goals from the penalty spot in the 43rd and 47th minute. Kyle Hughes added a fifth Cascade Christian goal in the 57th minute from 20 yards out. Josiah Gopaul scored his fourth goal in the 60th minute. In the closing minutes, Dashiell Stein scored in the 78th minute for King’s to put the visitors on the board.

Cascade Christian’s 8-1 win elevated their record to 10-1. King’s dropped to 7-3-1.
