Aberdeen 2, WF West 0
(Chehalis, WA) The Aberdeen Bobcats came into Tuesday’s match with a 4-1 league record; the one loss was to the WF West Bearcats back on March 25th. WF West also came in with a 4-1 EVCO 2a record after a loss to Tumwater in their last game.
The Bearcats playing without 2 of their regular starters knew they were gonna have a tough time keeping Aberdeen at bay. Once Aberdeen got a feel for the natural grass at Bearcat Stadium they really took control of the match. Aberdeen got the scoring going in the 21st minute when Freddy Hernandez made a run down the sideline and sent a crossing pass to Marc Avila who headed it home. Avila would strike again in the 38th minute on a perfectly timed long range shot just off the outstretched hand of Bearcat keeper Noel Montenegro. Aberdeen went into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
The Second half was mostly played in the middle of the field. Stifling defense and a very good midfield game by Aberdeen slowed the Bearcats down and gave them very limited opportunities to score. In the end the 2 first half goals were all that would go in for either squad.
Our Thorbecke’s MVP went to Aberdeen senior forward Marc Avila for his first half brace and overall play.
Aberdeen is now 5-1 in EVCO 2A play and 8-2 overall. They host Shelton on April 24th. WF West falls to 4-2 in league and 5-6 overall the Bearcats travel to Centralia for a match on April 25th.
