2/10/25
After three weeks of the playoffs, everything came down to the big game on Sunday as the Kansas City Chiefs attempted to complete a three-peat which had not been done in the NFL since before the Super Bowl-era. However, the Chiefs would not come close to pulling it off as they were dominated by the Philadelphia Eagles 40-22 as the Eagles pulled out their second Super Bowl win in franchise history.
While the game itself was a blowout, Professor DW’s Postseason Tournament came down to the wire. Things turned into a two person race down the stretch with Jeff Johnson (Tumwater) and Roy Clark battling it out down the stretch. The difference maker came down to the 5 points possible for picking the correct winner. Jeff would be the fortunate one to choose the Eagles to come away with the win which catapulted him past Roy. While the late 50-yard field goal by Jake Elliott and no coaches challenges helped Roy make a run, he just could not overcome the Chiefs laying an egg. Jeff would end up with 18 points in the final round for a total of 35 and defeating Roy who ended up with 32.
In the race for third, Stephen Gruginski pulled away with 30 points to take the bronze position while Bob Kickner and Kevin Hamrick ended up in a tie for fourth. With a total of 651 points being scored in the postseason, Bob’s guess of 647 was better than Kevin’s 588 giving Bob the fourth-place finish. Down below are the correct responses next to each question and the final results for the postseason competition.
Jeff wins the grand prize consisting of a 55″ smart TV, a kegorator, a theater Popcorn machine and a neon sign of your favorite football team. However, Jeff also has the option of taking a $750 buy out to take just cash and spend it however he wants.
We would like to thank each and every one of you for participating in this year’s football competition. The Professor will be back multiple times throughout the year with opportunities in other sports. The next opportunity will be Professor DW’s Bracket Challenge for March Madness in about a month so make sure you are checking back often on the website and on socials on Facebook and on X @youresn.
Congratulations once again to Jeff Johnson of Tumwater on the big win!
