Central Valley’s Brynn McGaughy was named a McDonald’s All American yesterday. McGaughy previously played at 2B’s Colfax, winning the State Championship in 2023 as a sophomore, which featured her performance in the quarterfinals, where she had 34 points and didn’t miss a single shot. McGaughy went 14-14 from the floor and 5-5 from the free-throw line and outscored her opponent by herself. As a freshman, McGaughy also led Colfax to the 2022 State Championship Game before transferring to Central Valley this year.
McGaughy is a 5-star recruit, committed to playing at the University of Washington. Being named to the McDonald’s All American team is quite an honor. Players like Candace Parker, Caitlin Clark, Elene Delle Donne, Maya Moore, and countless other great WNBA players have played in the McDonald’s All American Game. Only 24 players out of the hundreds of players nominated to be a McDonald’s All American get named to the team, 12 from the East and 12 from the West. McGaughy is only the sixth University of Washington women’s player to be named to the McDonald’s All American team.
The McDonald’s All American Game will be played in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, on Tuesday, April 1st. ESPN will be broadcasting the game at 3:30 PM on ESPN 2, and the boys game will follow at 6:00 PM on ESPN. On Monday, March 31st, there will be a 3-point contest, a dunk contest, and a knockout game.
Central Valley is 16-0 this season and will be looking to make their first trip back to State since 2020, where the Bears won the State Championship.
