In the final week of the regular season, a familiar face stood tall to close out week 18. It was not a dominant win however as there was guaranteed to be a tie but it all depended on the final regular season game between Minnesota and Detroit. One of those teams actually showed up however as Detroit dominated Minnesota to snag the #1 seed in the NFC and create a five-way tie at 12 points for our contest.
The quintet at the top of the leaderboard this week was AJ Mcelhaney, Skip Smith, Kevin Hamrick, Bob Kickner, and Jeff Johnson. AJ was the only one of the five that had not qualified for the postseason tournament yet and he went low with his total points guess at 150. Kevin guessed 517 while Jeff had 669, Bob had 674, and Skip went with a whopping 710. It was a great week to go big as a total of 765 points were scored to end the season. That gave Skip his third win of the season. Bob would come in second to block out the final two spots in the postseason tournament.
With the season now over, we have 19 unique entries into the postseason tournament. The early season winners did a tremendous job of taking up extra spots and blocking out others from joining. A total of 36 spots were up for grabs to begin the season which means just under 50% were taken by previous winners. The grand prize consists of a 55″ smart TV, a kegorator, a theater Popcorn machine and a neon sign of your favorite football team.
Remember, only those with a first or second place finish are eligible to enter the postseason tournament. Those people that have qualified have already been contacted by Professor DW.
Speaking of Professor DW, he once again whiffed on what was supposed to be his week. The nine points from the professor was just the latest in a string of unacceptable, pitiful performances. The New York Giants have more fight than DW.
There was one game that was not correctly selected by any of our entrants. The Chicago Bears defeated the Green Bay Packers for the first time since 2018. Nobody saw that one coming as the Bears got to celebrate their Super Bowl in early January.
The postseason tournament is up and live now. The deadline is Saturday, January 11th at 9am. Make sure to get entered each week as the points will accumulate. Best of luck to all qualifiers!
