The Sumner Spartans shot the lights out of the Sumner Gym against the Bonney Lake Panthers. Jalen Hyppa’s 27 and Colten Kelley’s 19 points catered Sumner’s 86-48 rout of Bonney Lake.

Sumner came into the night off a dramatic 62-61 win over Graham Kapowsin with Jalen Hyppa scoring the go ahead bucket in the closing seconds of the game. Bonney Lake came into the night with a three game losing streak, hoping to turn things around.

The first quarter began with Sumner jumping out of the gate. Jalen Hyppa was red hot from 3, with 4 3-pointers in the opening quarter. Hyppa’s 14 pts first quarter points outscored Bonney Lake’s output as a team. At the end of the first quarter Sumner led Bonney Lake 23-8.

The second quarter was the Colten Kelley show. Kelley’s 12 2nd quarter points including 3 3-pointers paved the way for Sumner to pour it on. Sumner led at halftime 51-21.

The second half saw Sumner cruise to an 86-48 win making 13 3’s in the win.

Bonney Lake’s Jamian Lewis led in scoring for Bonney Lake with 14.

Sumner will travel on the road to face Spanaway Lake on Thursday, while Bonney Lake that same day hosts Puyallup.

Jalen Hyppa was named out Eli Sports Network MVP of the game with 27 points including 14 in the first quarter.
