For the first time this season we have a back-to-back winner as Mark Westley had a tremendous week for his second consecutive win in Professor DW’s Football Pick ’em Challenge. Out of 16 total games, Mark correctly picked 15 of them with his only miss coming in the Sunday Night Football game where he had Seattle defeating Green Bay which did not come even close to happening. While Mark dominated, the race for second place would be between three contestants that each only missed two games.

The trio of Jeff Johnson, Trent Thwamley, and Lee Stockwell all agreed on the two Monday night games that saw Minnesota blowout Chicago and Atlanta narrowly avoid disaster against Las Vegas. We went to the tiebreaker and it was an interesting week in terms of points scored. While there were some very low scoring games like Thursday night’s snoozefest, there were some high-scoring shootouts like Buffalo’s win over Detroit. In total, 718 points were scored and Lee’s guess of 712 netted him the second-place finish ahead of Jeff’s 664 and Trent’s 645.

Mark qualified for the postseason tournament with his second-place finish in week 9, but he has now taken up three spots with his back-to-back wins. He is the fourth contestant to win multiple weeks but the first this year to win in consecutive weeks. Lee is one of those that took first in multiple weeks so he also takes away a potential entry into the postseason tournament. Only six opportunities remain as we go down the stretch for the regular season before the postseason starts. The grand prize consists of a 55″ smart TV, a kegorator, a theater Popcorn machine and a neon sign of your favorite football team.

The professor did terrible…again. We have no further comment at this time.

While there wasn’t one standout upset, a lot of the entrants bought in on Detroit but the Lions continue to be plagued by the injury bug as they fell to Buffalo in a game that looks a lot closer than it was. 30% of the entrants correctly chose the Bills to win a potential Super Bowl preview while the Rams over the 49ers, the Bucs over the Chargers, and the Packers over the Seahawks were right behind as well.

Week 16’s contest is up. The deadline to get your entry in is 4pm on Thursday so get signed up now. Congratulations Mark and Lee and best of luck to everyone this week.
