(Puyallup, WA) The WIAA State girls 1A and 2A Final 4’s will be contested at Mt Tahoma high school begining on Friday. In the 1A bracket, the seeding committee nailed it with a perfect bracket sending the 1 thru 4 seeds to the final 4. 1 seed Cedar Park Christian is the only team that has won a State Title when they reeled off 3 in a row from 2001-2003.
2nd seeded Seton Catholic, 3 seed Bellevue Christian and 4 seed Cashmere are all looking for their 1st State Championship. How much separates the 4 teams, not much. All 4 advanced to the Final 4 with 1 goal victories of either 1-0 or 2-1 so there doesn’t appear to be an offensive juggarnaut in the mix.
The 2A seeding committee would not be outdone anc matched the 1A with seeds 1-4 in the Final 4. Top seed Ridgefield is also the defending State Champions and have 5 top 4 finishes total. They face 4 seed Bellingham who are looking for their 1st ever girls soccer Championship.
2ns seeded West Valley (Spokane) also has never taken the big trophy and will be facing Columbia River who have won 2 of the last 5 State Titles and own 5 overall. The Greater St Helens League is well represented with Ridgefield and Columbia River both coming in withn identical 4-0 and 5-0 shut out wins in the 1st 2 rounds. Bellingham and West Valley will need their defenses to stay strong and likely find some more offense.
