In week 10 of Professor DW’s Football Pick ’em Challenge, the race for second ended up being a lot closer than the race for first. Going into Monday night’s game between the Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Rams, Jeff Johnson just needed Miami to get the win and his 12 points would be enough. However, if Los Angeles won, there would be a four-way tie for first and second meaning that the total points tiebreaker would be used again.

Luckily for Jeff, Miami pulled out the win to give him a two-point victory over the rest of the field. There was still a five-way tie for second between Matt Evans, Shawn O’Neill, Kevin Hamrick, Clark Roy, and Mike Lowder. It was a fairly low scoring week as the point total ended up being 570. Matt, Kevin, and Clark were all out as they all guessed over for the week. Both Shawn and Mike guessed very low but Shawn’s 365 edged out Mike’s 43 to give Shawn O’Neill the second-place finish.

This was Jeff’s first win of the season but he had already qualified for the postseason tournament with his second-place finish back in week 5. Shawn becomes the 16th contestant to qualify for the postseason tournament with the opportunities winding down. Only 16 spots remain to earn your way into the playoffs. The winner of the postseason tournament will earn a nice prize package including a 55″ smart TV, a kegorator, a theater Popcorn machine and a neon sign of your favorite football team.

Professor DW actually earned 10 points which would have had him tied for second this week. His 541-point total would have actually had him win a second-place finish but that is not the Professor’s job. The Professor’s job is to win and he once again failed to do so. At this rate, the Professor might as well be the next coach of the New York Jets.

Week 10 had a few upsets and a couple of near upsets that just fell short like Denver against Kansas City. The least picked upset of the week was a battle of rookie quarterbacks as Drake Maye and New England defeated Caleb Williams and Chicago. Only three entrants correctly picked that matchup and neither of our top two finishers were in that rare group.

Week 11’s contest is up and make sure you get your entry in before 4pm on Thursday. Congratulations Jeff and Shawn and best of luck to everyone this week.
