Consolation Bracket All Games are Loser Out
(6) Puyallup 3, (11) Union 0
On Saturday, the 6-seed Puyallup Vikings lost a close match against 3-seed Kentridge 1-0 to pin them against the 11-seed Union Titans, who were coming off a 1-0 win over 14-seed Olympia on Saturday. This was a loser-out match, with the winner of this match heading to a winner-to-state, loser-out match on Thursday.
In the first half, Puyallup controlled the pace and possession of the ball, as Ella Bach, a Clemson commit, knocked in the game’s first goal in the 8th minute to give Puyallup an early 1-0 lead. Bach received a throw-in, headed to the edge of the 18, turned, and fired a perfect shot under the crossbar for the goal. Bach struck again in stoppage time as the junior received a pass on the run, took a dribble inside the 18, and blasted one into the back of the net on the half’s final play to make it 2-0 Puyallup leading at the half.
In the second half, Puyallup continued to control the ball and the pace of the half. In the 59th minute, Teagan Thompson capitalized as the ball was loose inside the 6-yard box, Thompson gathered control of the ball, turned, and knocked it into the open net to make it 3-0 for Puyallup. Puyallup held on for a 3-0 win as Union applied pressure in the second half, but Olivia Weidner kept the Titans scoreless in the match.
Our elisportsnetwork.com Match MVP went to Ella Bach, who had two perfectly placed shots for her goals in the first half to help Puyallup get the District Tournament victory. Puyallup’s Olivia Weidner had a great match, earning the shutout victory, and was called on to make a few saves for the Vikings. Teagan Thompson had a good match with her gaol, and Emory Villacorta played a pivotal part on the wing for the Vikings.
Union had good performances from keeper Sadie Warden, who made some fantastic saves and multiple times denied Puyallup from adding to their lead. Guadalupe Gutierrez was active all night in the midfield, as was Alexandra Andrade. Ella Tyger had some throw-ins for the Titans that instantly moved the ball down the field to allow the offense to get set up for some chances.
With the win, Puyallup advances to a winner-to-state, loser-out match on Thursday at Federal Way Memorial Field. That match will be broadcast on ESN. The 6-seeded Vikings are now 11-5-2 on the season. Union’s season comes to a close at 7-7-4.

(7) Stadium 3, (10) Auburn Riverside 1
In the second loser-out match of the evening, the Stadium Tigers and Auburn Riverside Ravens are very familiar with each other. The two NPSL foes already played each other twice in the regular season, with Stadium winning the first match 2-1 and the second match being a 1-1 draw. On Saturday, Stadium had lost their first match since mid-Septmeber, when the 7-seed fell to 2-seed Curtis 2-0, and the 10-seed Auburn Riverside won over 15-seed Graham-Kapowsin 2-0 to advance to this match.
In the first half, Stadium struck quickly, as Leah Kalal turned and fired a shot with her left foot towards the near post that found the back of the net in the 8th minute to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. Auburn Riverside controlled the ball and pace of the half from that point until the 35th minute, as the Ravens offense got off many shots, but Stadium keeper Tyler Roberts kept everything out of the net for the Tigers. In the 35th minute, Jordyn Williams made it 2-0 for Stadium as she took the ball away from the Ravens, dribbled to the middle of the field, and fired a shot from about 25 yards out that snuck inside the far post for the goal. In stoppage time, Stadium’s Emma Cardozo made a great run towards the 18, received a perfect pass, and placed her shot underneath the bar to give Stadium a 3-0 lead at the half.
In the second half, Auburn Riverside once again had their offense going and was able to get a lot of shots off, but Tyler Roberts for Stadium was outstanding in net, making every save necessary to preserve the 3-0 lead. Roberts was subbed out of the match late in the second half, and Auburn Riverside would get a goal in the 76th minute. Auburn Riverside’s Caitlyn Riggs made a great run on the far side of the field, getting inside the goal box and firing a close-ranged shot to get a late goal for Auburn Riverside to make it a 3-1 match. Stadium would hold on for a 3-1 victory to advance in the District Tournament.
Our elisportsnetwork.com Match MVP went to Stadium’s keeper Tyler Roberts. Roberts was phenomenal in net for the Tigers as the junior kept a clean sheet while she was on the field for Stadium. Stadium also had great performances from Emma Cardozo, who seemed to be in the right spot at the right time for the majority of the match for the Tigers and had the third and final goal of the match for Stadium.
Auburn Riverside’s Keely Kliewer was really good on the defensive side for the Ravens and even helped out sometimes on the offensive side, creating chances for the offense. Caitlyn Riggs was very good at the top of the formation for Auburn Riverside, and Layla Bejar also made big contributions defensively for the Ravens.
Stadium will advance to take on Puyallup in a winner-to-state, loser-out match on Thursday at 5:00 PM at Federal Way Memorial Field. That match will be broadcasted on ESN. Stadium improves to 10-4-4 on the season. Auburn Riverside’s season ends at 10-6-2.

(5) Camas 2, (13) Kennedy Catholic 1 (OT; 1st Golden Goal period)
The season was on the line for the Lancers and Papermakers with the winner advancing keeping their hopes alive for a state tournament entry and the loser having their season come to an end.
Camas got off to a good start knocking in a goal in the 14th minute when freshman Kaliyah Salley took advantage of a dropped save by the Lancers and punched it into the net for the score. That 1-0 lead would last all the way to halftime and nearly the rest of the match. With literally seconds left in regulation a late corner kick for the Lancers was lobbed into the box and Adelyne Kohmetscher popped it into the net to force overtime.
Kohmetscher then almost ended the match in the 1st 30 seconds of overtime when she just missed with an early shot. The Papermakers then responded and with about a minute to go a quick break-away got the ball to Brooklyn Burns who slipped between defenders and fired a laser shot to the left of the keeper who got her hands on it but could not keep it from getting by for the winning shot.
Camas advances to play again on Thursday against Rogers (Puyallup) in a winner to state, loser out contest. The match will be played at Mt Tahoma High School with a 5pm kick-off. Our Eli Sports Network dot com MVP went to Senior Abigail Doyle of Camas for her overall performance and defensive work holding down the Lancer offense. Kennedy Catholic ties it just before the final horn
Camas wins it in OT
(9) Rogers 1, (8) Tahoma 0 (Shoot-out 3-1)
The defenses dominated on both sides of the ball with neither giv ing an inch despite attack after attack from each side. The defenses were dang special when you consider there were a total of 12 corner kicks, 7 for Rogers and 5 for Tahoma and these were attacking, aggressive plays. The Rams were flying to the goal on each kick but the Bears were able to deny them each time.
The flip side the Bears had more open shot chances as the Rams keeper Mollie Medford racked up 13 saves in goal while Bears keepers Simone Bennett and Rebecca Drew combined for 5 saves and may have been more if their backline wasn’t so strong.
The 2 teams battled 90 minutes, 80 minutes of regulation and 10 minutes of golden goal OT’s and still no goals sending it to PK’s. Tahoma would shoot first but the shot form Olivia Sides went wide. Rogers would take the lead with a score from Anya DeBoer. In the 2nd round Tahoma’s Kate Spangler evened it 1-1 and then Bennett smothered the shot from Rogers’ Aubrey Erath and it was 1-1.
In the 3rd round, Tahoma’s Avery Clark fired high and missed over the top and the Rams took the lead when Alyce Chappelle scored making it 2-1 Rogers. It was a must score for the Bears or the Rams could win it in 4 rounds. Sachi Davis kicked for Tahoma and Medford read it perfectly and stopped the shot setting up a chance for Rogers to get the win on the next kick. Hailie Doan lined it up and pummeled it into the back of the net and the Rams exploded in celebration clinching the win.
The Rams will move on to play Camas on Thursday at Mt Tahoma high school with a 5pm kick-off time. The winner advances to state and the loser is done for the year. Our Eli Sports Network dot com MVP went to sophomore keeper Mollie Medford.

First Round Games Played on 11/2
Curtis 2, Stadium 0
The Curtis Viking out of the SPSL came into the district tournament as the 2 seed with a 12-1-2 record. The Stadium Tigers out of the NPSL came in as the 7 seed with a 9-3-4 record.
The Viking wanted to set the tone of the game early. Curtis controlled the possession in the first half with Kat West and Tejal Maheswaran feeding their speedy forwards lots of passes. The Tigers backline and keeper Tyler Roberts had hands full but made big plays to keep the Viking at bay. Curtis got on the board in the 35th on their second corner of the half. Olivia Lorella sent a floating kick just outside of the 6 yard box and Soph Mayne sent a hard shot past Roberts for the 1-0 lead. Stadium’s Tyler Roberts had 6 saves in the first half.
Halftime Curtis 1, Stadium 0
The game had been pretty physical in the first half but in the second half it ratcheted up a notch. In the 54th there was a collision in the Stadium penalty box that had the head official pointing at the penalty marker. Soph Mayne stepped up but sent the shot over the crossbar to the relief of the Tigers. Curtis would get close again on their 3rd corner of the match but senior defender Aly Brown held the line and swept the Viking shot away. A similar collision in the box on the other end of the field got both sides of the stands fired up with no call being made. The final goal of the game came in the 67th minute on Curtis’ 4th corner. Our ESN MVP Olivia Lorella took the corner and this time found Hoku Mose in a crowd for the 2-0 lead and her 2nd assist of the match. Stadium got several scoring opportunities late in the match with 2 free kicks just outside of the 18 yard box but both shots by Jordyn Williams went over the crossbar and Curtis held on for the 2-0 win.
With the win Curtis secures a spot in the 4A State Tournament and will play NPSL #1 Kentridge on Tuesday 11/5 in a loser to state winner to district championship game. Stadium goes into the consolation bracket and plays a familiar foe in Auburn Riverside in a loser out match also on Tuesday.
