(Federal Way, WA) Nehemiah Washington and Devin Caogdin put on a clinic with each scoring two touchdowns. The defense for Decatur also contributed, holding Todd Beamer to 68 yards of total offense. In the end on senior night, the Decatur Golden Gators concluded an undefeated regular season with a shutout win of league rival Todd Beamer.
The night began with Decatur having already sewn up the regular season NPSL Title. After a breakout season last year, Decatur established their year in the early stages with cornerstone wins against Enumclaw and Federal Way to set the tone for the season. Todd Beamer entered the night already eliminated from playoff contention, but improving on their three win mark from last year.
After receiving the opening kickoff, Decatur embarked on a drive that took up nearly half the quarter. Quarterback Spencer Holloway dialed up a deep ball for an open Eric Havili for a 41 yard touchdown to put Decatur in front 6-0 with 6:17 to play in the first after a missed extra point.
After a Todd Beamer punt, Devin Caogdin scored on a ten yard run with 1:57 left in the first. Decatur led 12-0 after another missed point after. Todd Beamer fumbled on their ensuing drive. Taeron Clay scored from three yards out 38 seconds into the second quarter. Decatur led 20-0 after a two point conversion. A Caogdin scoring run and Maddox Hayliger touchdown catch added to the scoring, to put Decatur up 34-0 at the half.
Decatur kicker Angel Estrada recovering the opening kickoff of the second half. On the ensuing play, Nehemiah Washington dashed 50 yards for a touchdown. The score installed a running clock with the Golden Gators up 41-0. Washington scored another touchdown late in the quarter. Decatur led 47-0 at the end of the 3rd.
The fourth quarter saw Sefa Leapai score midway through the quarter on a 34 yard run. Decatur stalled Todd Beamer on downs as time expired to preserve the shutout win.
Todd Beamer with the loss concludes their season at 4-4. Although quarterback Esquire Williams and tailback Elijah Prim saw the bulk of the touches, Decatur’s stifling defense muted any opportunity for Todd Beamer to score.
Decatur with the win completes their regular season undefeated at 8-0, their next opponent is TBD.
Golden Gator QB Spencer Holloway threw for 189 yards and two touchdowns. Tailback Devin Coagdin had 84 all purposes yards including two scores on the ground. Maddox Hayliger and Eric Havili closed out the evening with touchdown catches for Decatur. Sefa Leapai and Taeron Clay scored touchdowns on the ground for Decatur.
