SEATTLE, WA — Joel Kiviranta and Nathan MacKinnon powered the Colorado Avalanche to a 3-2 victory over the Seattle Kraken on Tuesday night. Both players scored in the second period, securing Colorado’s lead.

Kiviranta, who also netted a goal late in the first period, gave Colorado an early 1-0 lead. Goalie Justus Annunen made 25 saves, while Cale Makar provided two assists.

Seattle’s Jared McCann tied the game with 8:03 remaining in the second period, notching his 100th goal as a member of the Kraken. However, Kiviranta quickly responded three minutes later with his second goal, reclaiming the lead for the Avalanche. MacKinnon extended the advantage with just eight seconds left in the second period, giving Colorado a two-goal cushion.

Ryker Evans scored Seattle’s second goal with only four seconds remaining in the game, but it wasn’t enough to complete a comeback. Just like his counterpart, Kraken goalie Philipp Grubauer accounted for 25 saves.

Key Moment:

McCann’s milestone goal briefly tied the game, but Colorado regained the lead just three minutes later with Kiviranta’s second goal. MacKinnon’s late-period goal stretched the lead to two, making it difficult for Seattle to recover.
