Napavine 2, Tonasket 0

(Napavine, WA) Tonasket made the long road trip and came in with an 8-3-2 record after falling 4-1 to Adna on Friday. Napavine has a 6-2 record and hadn’t played a game since October 9th and that was a 9-0 win. The Battle of the Tigers was set to be a good one.

At the start of the match Tonasket came out with lots of pace and possession for the first 10 minutes of the game. With Riley Corum and Jaycee Norris working efficiently down the near sideline. Napavine’s defense had their hands full but were up to the task. Keeper Taylen Evander showed off her sure hands with several catch saves early for Napavine. The first goal of the game came in the 12th minute off a low near post shot by freshman forward Jenna Gallagher to put Napavine on top 1-0. The host Tigers would strike again in the 36th minute. Hayden Kaut put the perfect touch on a ball that just sailed over the hand of Tonasket Keeper Dixie Williams. Napavine went into halftime with a 2-0 lead.

The Second half saw an uptick in tempo for Tonasket with Rian Sutton, Sarah Wirth and Bella Williams getting more involved. Napavine settled into their formation and played a more deliberate style in the second half. It was Tonasket’s defensive duo of Miriam Gallardo and Grace Castrejon that stepped up and shut down the Napavine Tigers.

In the end the 2 first half goals was all Napavine needed getting the 2-0 win. Taylen Evander had 8 saves while Dixie Williams finished with 7. Hayden Kaut was named our Thorebeckes’ MVP for her overall play and the perfect shot.

Tonasket next plays on October 15th at home against Brewster. Napavine travels to Toledo on Monday October 14th on a 7 game win streak.
