(Puyallup, WA)

Some may have been concerned with the 0-2 SPSL record for Puyallup’s Volleyball Team to start the year. The patience was rewarded Tuesday night, thanks to the senior leadership and Haylee Tavares and Reese Sheppard defeated Sumner in four sets.

Puyallup came into the evening with a (2-2) record in the SPSL with a (4-3) record overall while Sumner came into the night with an SPSL record of (1-3) with an overall record of (5-4).

Sumner started the match scoring the first four points thanks to the serving from Kassidi Lelli.

Puyallup would go onto have two long scoring runs in the first set with nine and ten unanswered points. This was thanks to the serving from Sam Pirillis and Haylee Tavares.

Puyallup took the first set 25-11.

The second set had Sumner scoring on a flurry of highlight reel points, including multiple kills from Jada Foster and Kawehi Borden.

Sumner held an early lead in the second set and did not look back, claiming the second set 25-16.

Puyallup would wake up, with a resounding 25-6 third set.

The front line of Puyallup would shine in the fourth set with Rachel Dixon, Sienna Hanson and Reese Sheppard putting on an elite display of playing at the net.

Our Elisportsnetwork.com MVP was Haylee Tavares with a scoring run to close out the first set and punctuating numerous kills for Puyallup.

Sumner heads on the road Thursday to face South Kitsap, while Puyallup will travel to face new SPSL foe Spanaway Lake on Thursday.
