Napavine 27, Adna 13
(Adna, WA) This long time rivalry re-newed again in 2024 at Adna and over the past couple of season the Tigers have had their own way with the Pirates. This year Napavine was hoping to keep that tradition rolling but Adna was plenty tired of it and the game was all even at halftime 7-7.
Napavine did get things rolling with a 1st quarter touchdown run from Grady Wilson from just a yard out and the Tigers took the 7-0 lead. Adna answered near the halfway poingt of the 2nd quarter when Beau Miller ran it in from the 7 yard line, the PAT was good and it was 7-7 which would stand to the halftime break.
The Pirates had the ball to begin the 3rd quarter and drove out near midfield, On a 3rd down dropping back to pass was Layden York but his pass was blocked by the rush popped up in the air and picked off by Kaden Smith who then nearly took it to the house down to the 4 yard line. Grady Wilson then ran it in on 2nd down from the 1, the PAT was added and the Tigers took a 14-7 lead with 10:05 to go in the 3rd.
Wilson and the Tigers added a 3rd score with 4:40 to go in the quarter when QB Grady Wilson took a high snap stepped up and found a huge hole and was gone 45 yards for the touchdown. The extra point was good and Napavine had their first 2 score lead in the game.
Adna would not give in and came right back getting down to the Napavine 10 yard line. The Pirates set up to pass and York dropped back and found Gavan Muller in the left corner of the endzone for the score. The PAT was missed but with 9:04 to play in the game the Pirates were down 21-13.
The stingy Tiger defense would hold however and Napavine’s offense was able to add a lagte TD with the 4th score of the game for Grady Wilson on a 1 yard run. The PAT was no good and the Tigers led again by 2 scores 27-13 with 4:40 to play and that is how the game would end.
The Thorbeckes MVP went to Grady Wilson who scored all 4 of the Tiger touchdowns. Napavine is now 4-2 on the season while Adna drops to 2-4. The Tigers travels to Raymond-South Bend next Friday. Adna will hit the road to Forks also on Friday.
