(Kent, WA) In a meeting touted for the running back battle of Stadium’s Darius Sum and Kentwood’s Antoine Lee, the matchup lived up to the hype.

It was Sum and Stadium however, that had the last word, emerging victorious 39-22. Sum accounted for 265 yards and two touchdowns while Antoine Lee had 165 yards to go along with two scores of his own, including a 99-yard touchdown run.

With the win, Stadium jumps to 4-1 while Kentwood drops to 1-4.

Stadium won the opening coin toss and elected to receive.

With hopes of snaring momentum from the kickstart, Stadium did just that with a drive that featured 60 yards on the ground from Darius Sum, punctuated by a one-yard touchdown run. The extra point was missed, Stadium led 6-0.

On the ensuing kickoff, Treyvon Mayfield raced 80 yards to the house to put Kentwood on the board, Brandon Tagle’s two-point conversion rush give the Conks an 8-6 lead.

After both teams punted on their ensuing drives, Stadium was set to punt for the second time, but Stadium QB Kooper Tasler heaved up a deep ball and Case Kelanic pulled it down for a 33-yard catch.

Kelanic capped off the drive with a touchdown catch to Stadium in front 14-8 with 8:24 left in the half after a Sum two-point conversion.

Kentwood followed up by driving to the Stadium six-yard line, but a fumble ended the Conqueror drive.

Stadium countered with a touchdown run from Darius Sum with 1:31 left in the half, after the successful two-point conversion, Stadium led 22-8 going into halftime.

At the half, Darius Sum had 194 yards on 22 carries compared to Antoine Lee’s 16 yards on a meager three carries.

Kentwood got the football to start the 3rd quarter, Antoine Lee finished the drive with a 21-yard score, the deficit was cut to 22-14.

Stadium responded with a field goal from Kooper Tasler of 30 yards to give Stadium a 25-14 lead with 6:38 left in the third quarter.

Kentwood matriculated to their own 49 before a high snap collapsed the drive, the loose football tumbled and bounced all the way back to the 17, before Stadium finally recovered.

Kentwood’s defense, however, came to play.

Facing first and goal, Kentwood’s defense came through making the goal line stand, stalling Stadium at the one.

On the next play, it was time for the tailback to be unleashed, Antoine Lee took it the distance for a 99-yard touchdown run. Lee would catch the ensuing two-point conversion, and the Conquerors trailed 25-22 with 11:39 left in regulation.

Stadium countered with a drive that lasted six minutes, capped off with a seven yard touchdown run from Jalen Olive with 5:46 left.

Donovan Gill intercepted Brandon Tagle on the ensuing possession, and Milo Edwards scored a touchdown in the closing seconds to cement a 39-22 win for Stadium.

In the battle of the highly touted running backs, Stadium’s Darius Sum shined with 34 carries 265 yards and two touchdowns. Antoine Lee countered with 165 yards on 9 carries, which included the 99-yard touchdown run.

Brandon Tagle threw for 172 yards in the loss for Kentwood, while Kooper Tasler threw for 96 yards and a touchdown.
