The 2023 champion of Professor DW’s Football Pick ’em Challenge notched their first win of the new season in week 2. This week, Katie King took home the win getting 10 out of 16 games correct. In a week full of upsets, Katie took some chances that paid off, correctly selecting New Orleans over Dallas as well as Tampa Bay and Green Bay who both picked up wins as underdogs.

It came down to the tiebreaker this week as Mike Lowder, Carter Fabritius, and Todd Sayre all finished with 10 correct picks as well. In a very low scoring week, the point total ended up being 634 which immediately took out Todd and Carter who guessed over with 699 and 681 respectively. Katie and Mike both made sure to go under as Mike guessed 44 but Katie went much higher with 387.

Katie also beat the Professor who had an abysmal performance only getting 6 games correctly. We are starting to think that the professor lied on his resume as he hasn’t pulled out a win since week 1 last year. Katie gets an ESN T-Shirt and $25 cash for her win. While Mike doesn’t get the money, he still earned his way into the exclusive Prof DW Postseason Tournament where a sports nut prize package is on the line including a 55″ smart TV, a kegorator, a theater Popcorn machine and a neon sign of your favorite football team.

Now remember, winners can keep winning, you don’t get another post season tournament entry but you do prevent someone from getting in increasing your chances to win. So even if you win you want to keep playing to try and limit the number of finalists.

The rarest upset of the week was Monday night’s comeback where the Atlanta Falcons scored late to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles. Out of all the entries, only Chris Bell selected the Falcons to pull off the upset in Philly. Jeff Johnson was the closest to nailing the point total, but his 636 would not have helped him in the tiebreaker.
