(Auburn, WA) The final weekend of racing arrived on Friday night with just 6 races as 8 were planned for Saturday and 11 on Sunday, closing day. In this post we are quickly going to re-cap Friday and Saturday with Saturday’s card cut to 6 races after heavy rain made the track unsafe and the final 2 races were cancelled.

**Bettors if you bet and have tickets and left prior to the cancelled races be sure to run any and all of them through the SAM machines or take them to a teller to make sure you don’t throw away money coming to you. This is especially true of the daily double, pick 3, pick 4, pick 5 and pick 6 where they declared “all” as the winner in the 7th and 8th races. So if you were alive through the 6th race in any of those bets you win regardless of your picks in the cancelled races.

ESN talked with track President Phil Ziegler who told us the purse money was also paid out as a field dead heat so the owners, trainers and jockeys all got paid after their race was cancelled. Ziegler says it’s only fair the horsemen and riders are not penalized for something no one could control.

Below are our re-caps of the feature races from Friday and Saturday and links to the full equibase charts. Let’s get to Friday and Saturday!

5th Race Friday Night Feature

A field of 10 went 6 1/2 furlongs and Lie and Deny picked up his 3rd win of the season with a front end run. Handr’s Dream a longshot went to the lead with 5-2 Lie and Deny and Kevin Krigger right behind and those 2 would set the first fractions of 21.94 and 44.11. That was it for the longshot and turning for home Lie and Deny had a 1/2 length lead.

However, the closers were winding up and 2-1 favorite Roll Dem Bones with Juan Gutierrez would poke his head in front at the 1/8th pole while from last 7-1 Dennard and Luis Reyes were hitting their stride in 3rd. The 3 of them would go head and head to the wire with Lie and Deny “denying” the closers with a nose win over Dennard who was a head in front of Roll Dem Bones who was just a 1/2 length in front of Napoletano with Allyssa Morales for a crowded bunch at the finish line.

Lie and Deny stopped the clock on the fast track in a final time of 1:15.13. Lie and Deny races for Rakoczy Racing and Justin Evans and is trained by Evans. Lie and Deny scored his 3rd win at Emerald and is now 6-1-1 from 20 lifetime starts. Lie and Deny  added $9,405 to his career earnings which is now $65,443.

Young Life Laura and Carlos Montalvo was the first to take a shot at Frisco and engaged putting her head in front near the 3/4 pole.

Lopez released the brakes on A-B and blew by Laura and Frisco at the 1/8th pole pulling away to an easy 4 length lead in a final time 1:35.40. Young Life Laura was a clear 2nd 4 lengths in front of 2-1 Jamies Inheritance and Allyssa Morales who was 6 in front of the tiring Frisco Frills.
