Skyview 2, Tumwater 2

(Tumwater, WA)

Skyview came to Tumwater District Stadium with a 2-0-1 record that one tie came against defending 2A Champion Ridgefield. Tumwater came in at 1-1-1 with a loss to Defending 1A champion Seattle Academy and a tie with 4A Union.

A heavy rain started right before the whistle and the Storm got off to a hot start. Scoring in the 8th minute on a sweet pass from Mya Ellertson to Dea Covarrubias just inside the 6 yard box. Skyview would score again on a free kick from Reese Harrison in the 12th for the 2-0 lead. The Storm held on to that lead for the rest of the first half.

Tumwater came out of halftime with a different spark and energy that paid off in the 52nd minute when Emalyn Shaffer got fouled in the box. Kayla Pope took the shot from the mark to cut the lead to 2-1. After the defenses took over for a while it was Lucy Bergford that came up huge for the T-Birds. Breaking free and scoring on a hard angle near post shot for the equalizer in the 74th minute. Both Keepers had multiple saves in match with Skyview’s Brynnlee Williams securing 11 and Tumwater’s Wendy Ferrel knocking away 10. The match ended in a 2-2 tie and a great group picture for a great cause.
