Tumwater 56, Bainbridge 6

The 1-0 Tumwater T-Birds led wire to wire hosting the 1-0 Bainbridge Island Spartans on Friday, winning the game by a final score of 56-6. The Thunderbirds dominated on the ground rushing for more than three hundred yards on the night. Ten Tumwater players had positive rushing on the stat sheet. The rushing attack was led by Tyler Briscoe who had nine carries for eighty yards and Peyton Davis who had 15 carries for a 122 yards and a touchdown. Davis was named our Thorbecke’s MVP of the game.

Bainbridge Island failed to get anything going in the run game as the Tumwater defense was stifling. Spartan quarterback, Nate Putman struggled through the air because of the intense pass rush despite a solid looking spread offense. Ari Beyer was the leading receiver with four catches for 74 yards and a TD.

Tumwater improves to 2-0 on the season and travels to Eastlake next week. Bainbridge drops to 1-1 and looks to rebound in their conference opener next Friday when they host Bremerton.
