Puyallup Vikings 37 Evergreen (Vancouver) Plainsmen 13 (Puyallup, WA) The Puyallup Vikings in their home opener notched their first win of the season with a second half avalanche edging Evergreen thanks to three touchdowns from Kyson Douglas and three field goals from Braylon Bowie.

Puyallup took an early lead on their first drive on a 33-yard field goal from Bowie to put the Vikings up 3-0. Late in the quarter, Darren Schmidt caught a two-yard touchdown on fourth and goal from the two, the Plainsmen led 7-3 after 1.

The second quarter saw Kyson Douglas reel in a 43-yard catch, Douglas capped the drive with a two yard run. Puyallup capitalized on defense in the second quarter. The Vikings recovered an Evergreen fumble which they turned to points with a field goal by Bowie to put Puyallup up 13-7.

Near the end of the half, the Plainsmen attempted to punt with eight seconds left, but an errant snap set up Puyallup at the Evergreen 30 with five seconds to go. Bowie went on and nailed a 47-yard field goal to send the teams to the locker room. Puyallup led 16-7 at the break.

The sequence at the end of the half proved to be a sign of things to come in the second. After an Evergreen three and out, Kyson Douglas scored his second touchdown to put the Viks up 23-7.

The Vikings got the ball back and this time Nick Neil caught a 32-yard touchdown from quarterback Brayden Paulino and the Viks led 30-7.

Puyallup forced another three and out, and on the ensuing possession, Douglas scored his third touchdown of the game.

The Vikings scored three touchdowns on three offensive possessions to start the second half.

Evergreen would score on the last play of regulation when freshman quarterback Jayden Baum found tight end Darren Schmitt for his second touchdown of the game.

Our Cole Health MVP of the game was Kyson Douglas with three touchdowns in the win.
