Bethel 21 Emerald Ridge 7 (Puyallup, WA) A battle of the SPSL North vs the South unfolded on Thursday night, where Lance Santos put on an offensive display. Santos’ three touchdowns on the ground carried the Bison to a 21-7 victory over Emerald Ridge.

The game started with the Bison driving 76 yards and chewing up 7:27 on the opening drive capped off by Santos’ first touchdown of the night from six yards out.

The Bison defense was at their finest in the first half, with two three and outs and an interception highlighting the first half.

At halftime, the Bison led 7-0.

Late in the third quarter, the Bison faced a 2nd and 26 near midfield, quarterback Evan Barnes dialed up the deep ball where UW commit Zaydrius Rainey-Sale made an over the shoulder catch to set up Bethel at the ER three. Santos would punch in his second touchdown from a yard out a few plays later. Bethel led 14-0.

Emerald Ridge responded in the middle of the fourth quarter when quarterback Ben Druckman found Logan Lipscomb for a 35-yard touchdown to cut the Bethel lead in half with eight minutes left.

But it was a signature night for Lance Santos, his third touchdown of the game with under a minute remaining salted away the win for the Bison.

Santos earned Cole Health MVP honors with his three touchdowns.

Bethel will play next Saturday at North Creek while Emerald Ridge will host Graham Kapowsin on the Eli Sports Network next Friday.
