The results are in for week #1 of Professor DW’s Football Pick ’em Challenge and what a week for William Russell nearly going perfect getting 15 of 16 correct only missing New England’s upset win over Cincinnati. Russell also defeated Professor DW who got 10 correct.
The total points scored for the tie-breaker was 733 points and Russell stayed under with 654 but did not need the tie-breaker to take 1st place winning the $25 cash and for beating Prof DW an Eli Sports T-Shirt or polo shirt. Russell earns a spot into the exclusive Prof DW Post Season Tournament where a sports nut prize package is on the line including a 55″ smart TV, a kegorator, a theater Popcorn machine and a neon sign of your favorite football team.
This year we decided to also award an exclusive entry to the Post Season Tournament to each week’s 2nd place finish as well. This makes the max number of contestants to the post season tournament is 36.
The tie-breaker did have to come into play to determine 2nd place. Lee Stockwell, Skip Smith and Roy Clark all finished with 14 correct. Again the tie-breaker number of the total of all scores was 733 and remember we have the Price is Right rule and you can’t go over. Lee and Skip both missed on Atlanta and Cincinnati. Roy missed on Cincy and Tampa Bay. Skip guessed 745 points going over the 733. Roy guessed 580 and Lee had 683 giving the win to Lee Stockwell who gets an entry to post season.
Now remember, winners can keep winning, you don’t get another post season tournament entry but you do prevent someone from getting in increasing your chances to win. So even if you win you want to keep playing to try and limit the number of finalists.
In all the entries only 2 correctly picked New England and they were Paige Davila and Shawn O’Neill. Jennifer Kickner nearly hit the tie-breaker on the nose missing by 1 with 734 points.
Next week’s contest is up and make sure you get your entry in before 4pm on Thursday. Congrats William and Lee and best of luck to everyone this week.
