Puyallup’s South Hill Little League team won the Northwest Region last night and will head to the Little League World Series later this month.
South Hill started the Northwest Region Tournament with a 6-4 loss to Idaho to send them into the elimination bracket. They defeated Alaska 11-4 and then took down Oregon 14-5 to advance to the Championship Game.
In the Championship Game, South Hill again scored double digits with the help of an eight-run sixth inning, to defeat Idaho 13-7 to punch their ticket to Williamsport, Pennsylvania for the Little League World Series. This is the fourth straight year a team from Washington has made the Little League World Series.
The Little League World Series begins on Wednesday, and the championship game is on Sunday, August 25th. The full tournament schedule can be found here. All games will be broadcast on ESPN, ESPN 2, and ABC.
There will be an MLB game between the New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers, as they will compete at Historic Bowman Field in Williamsport on Sunday, August 18th. The Little League Home Run Derby takes place on Thursday, August 25th.
