CJ Allen competes in the 400-meter hurdles hurdles for Team USA. He is now in Pullman, however, he’s originally from Belfair and he went to North Mason High School. After that, Allen stayed in Washington to attend Washington State. In January 2023, Allen set the American national record for the 400m hurdles indoors at 48.88 seconds at the American Track League Pro Puma Classic meet held in Iowa. At the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Allen reached the semifinals. Allen has had an impressive year so far, ranking number seven in the world and is one of only 13 men to have a sub-48 second 400 meter hurdles run this year. Allen competed at the Monaco Diamond League in the 400-meter hurdles just a few days ago and finished sixth.

At the 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Track & Field Trials, Allen finished second to Rai Benjamin to qualify for the Olympic team. Trevor Bassitt also qualified for the 400-meter hurdles. This is Allen’s first time qualifying for the Olympics.

In high school, Allen earned nine letters at North Mason, four in track, two in football and basketball, and one in cross country. As a sophomore, he took fifth place in the 300-meter hurdles, finished second as a junior, and won as a senior with a meet record time of 37.33 seconds. He won the 110-meter hurdles as a junior, finished third as a senior, and finished fourth in the 200 meters as a senior.
