(Puyallup, WA) There are many grand, traditional Invitational Track Meets all around the state. Events such as the Pasco Invitational, the 34th Eason Invitational, the 64th Shelton and the Bill Harris Invitational at Federal Way to name just a few.
Emerald Ridge and Rogers (Puyallup) decided 4 years ago they wanted to get in on the action and their little idea has exploded in 4 short years to become one of the pre-eminant Invitationals of the season. The South Sound Classic at Sparks Stadium has 69 teams are signed up to compete (see full list of teams below) and will give Track and Field fans an early look at many of the top competitiors in all classifications.
Taking a look at some of the top Washington State marks and may be competing this Saturday include in the boys meet Liberty (Issaquah) Sutton Flint in the 300 hurdles. Flint has the top time in all classifications at 38.24. The Curtis boys 4 x 400 relay team has the top time of 3:25.12. Yelm’s Jordan Lasher has the top vault in the pole vault at 16-feet and Kentridge’s Berry Crosby is tied for the top jump in the long jump at 23’1.
In the girls meet top times, throws and jumps include Kent Meridian’s Journey Cole in the 100m at 11.87. Freshman Anna Schneidler from Eastlake has the top 400m time of 56.58 while Lake Washington’s Alexa Matora has the top time in the 800m at 2:11.37. Skyline’s Anna Callahan has a pair of top times in the distance events covering the 1600m in 4:47.64 and the 3200m in 10:04.80. Host team Emerald Ridge has both top hurdle times with JaiCieonna Gero-Holt running the 100m in 14.74 and Mikayla Gardley fnishing the 300m in 44.57.
In the Javelin Addison Kapur from Eastlake tossed the spear 133’4. Gero-Holt of Emerald Ridge has the top high jump at 5’10 and Federal Way’s Cassandra Atkins has a pair of top jumps leading the loing jump at 18’5.5 and the triple jump at 40′ 2.25.

Parking: Sparks Stadium has a very small parking lot and relies on the State Fair Parking Lot across the street. Unfortunately, the Spring Fair is being held the same weekend as our track invitational. Families may find themselves having to pay in the fair parking lot for parking. Street parking and Puyallup High School are also options.
Concessions: Roger’s Running Boosters will have snacks and drinks on sale. Food trucks will include: burgers, Filipino Comfort Food, Donuts, and Coffee.
Meet T-Shirts: GGX Sports will be providing shirt sales on site.
