The 4a and 3A boys and girls State Basketball Championships took place over this past week and culminated on Saturday with the 4 State Championship games. Only 1 team had a chance to defend their title by the time Championship Saturday rolled around and the Garfield Bullodog ladies could also make history by winning their 4th straight Title, a feat that has never been done by any other team. The 6 seed Bulldogs were facing the #1 Mead Panthers and held off the Spokane team with a 62-59 win in the 9pm nightcap.
The Championship round began with 4a boys #1 seed Mount Si beating #7 Richland to secure their 3rd State Title in school history. These 2 games sandwich a pair of 1st time Champions with the 4A #1 seed Camas girls defeating 8 seed Gonzaga Prep in the 5pm game and #2 seeded Eastside Catholic taking the 3A boys trophy.
