Tumwater 10, Centralia 0
(Centralia, WA) The Tumwater T-Birds extended their dominance over the Centralia Tigers with a 10-0 6 inning win on Wednesday. This is fresh off a 19-0 win over the Tigers on Tuesday. The defending state 2A Champions are off to a 4-0 start in EVCO league play and 6-2 overall.
T-Birds Head Coach Lyle Overbay sent 6 different pitchers to the mound, a new one each inning. The T-Birds continued the momentum they began on their home field on Tuesday scoring 5 runs in the top of the 1st. Peyton Davis led off with a single followed Eddie Marson’s RBI double off Tigers starter Brady Sprague. Brayden Oram followed that with an RBI single to make it 3-0. Alex Overbay then walked and Kyle Collier filled the bases after getting hit by a pitch. Derek Thompson then drove in 2 runs blistering a double into the left-center gap and Tumwater built a 5-0 lead.
Sprague would then settle down and gave up just 1 run in the 2nd and 3rd innings. However, through 3 innings only 10 Tiger batters made it to the plate with just 1 hit, a 2-out single from Tucker Weaver in the 2nd inning. That would be all the hits Centralia would put together as the 6 T-Bird pitchers combined for the 1-hitter.
Marcus Miller, who made 2 terrific plays at 3rd base to end both the 1st and 2nd innings then stepped onto the hill in the top of the 4th and held the T-Birds to just 1 run, then no runs in the 5th.
In the top of the 6th, the T-Birds had substituted most of the starters and William Bond got on with a 1-out walk followed by a walk to Liam Karlson then walked followed by another walk to Tait Gilberts. Bond would score on a wild pitch and Karlson scored on an RBI ground out by Fernando Adame to push the score to 10-0.
Nick Lowery would then finish it on the mound for the T-Birds as the 6th pitcher of the game. Trent Gaither pitched the 1st, the 2nd was Ayden Ramsay, Eddie Marson the 3rd, Brayden Oram in the 4th and in the 5th Graysen Reveal was handed the ball.
Eddie Marson earned our Thorbeckes MVP award going 2 for 2 with 2 doubles, a walk, 2 runs scored an inning pitched and solid infield work. The T-Birds will next play Battle Ground at Heritage on Friday. Centralia drops to 1-4 in league play and won’t play again until April 7 when they host Shelton.
