It was a night to remember for the Puyallup Vikings volleyball program as they stormed back from a 2 sets to nothing deficit to edge #6 Graham-Kapowsin Eagles in the final regular season match of the season.
The first two sets were extremely close, with both teams going on big runs to start the match. It was an 8-3 early lead for G-K but but the Vikings went on a 9-4 run and built a 17-11 lead. The Eagles answered with a 7-1 run to tie it at 18-18 before Graham-Kapowsin won the 1st set 25-22.
The 2nd set was tight as well but the Eagles scored the final 3 points to take the set 25-21.
It was the first time all season any team had won two sets over Puyallup, but the Vikings showed their championship mettle as they got on the board with a 25-22 win is the 3rd.
In the 4th, Puyallup got some mojo going as they took it 25-19, the largest margin of any set to force a 5th and final set.
The 5th was back and forth, before but a couple points that could have gone either way went the Vikings way, and Ivy Vindivich got a couple huge kills late to help Puyallup win the 5th set 15-13.
Graham-Kapowsin got a huge night from Senior Hailey Brockway, as the Illinois State commit had a game high 31 kills, 3 aces and at least 5 digs in the loss. Ivy Vindivich lead Puyallup with double digit kills.
