Puyallup 3, Bellarmine 0
(Puyallup, WA) The 4A #1 ranked Puyallup Vikings used a fast start on Thursday nigh and overcame a late Bellarmine push to sweep the Lions (25-9, 25-16, 25-22). Bellarmine scored the first point in the first two sets, including starting the match with a service ace by Sophomore Maddie Taitano to give the Lions the early lead. Bellarmine got within 3 points at 10-7 but then the Vikings went on a huge 15-2 run to win the 1st set 25-9.
Bellarmine had a good start to the 2nd set to take an early lead, but again Puyallup used their experience and explosive offense to win 25-16. The best set of the match was the 3rd when Bellarmine came back to tie it at 16-16, but the Vikings again finished strong to get the 25-22 win.
Jr middle blocker Dani Brown earned the MVP Award for Puyallup after leading the Vikings in kills with 11 and added 3 blocks in the win.
Puyallup had 13 service aces in the victory, including 6 for senior Ivy Vindivich and 4 for sophomore Reese Sheppard.
Bellarmine was lead by senior Ramsey Slack who led the Lions in kills, with Bridget Woodruff having a good game as well.
Puyallup is now 16-0 overall and 9-0 in 4A SPSL play, while Bellarmine drops to 6-6 overall and 3-6 in league action. The Vikings next travel to face Olympia, while Bellarmine heads to Sumner both matches on Monday.
