(Chehalis, WA) There were 2 Memorial Day games on the air a girls contest in Chehalis where the undefeated WF West Bearcats looked to extend that streak and an important Central 2B boys contest with Napavine at Toledo. Our coverage below.

EVCO 2A Girls Basketball
WF West 78, Aberdeen 29

(Chehalis, WA) The Bearcats actually got off to a slow start and Aberdeen led right out of the gate but about 4 minutes in the WF West offense began to click with a lot of help from Morgan Rogerson off the bench who scored 9 in the 1st half. Chehalis would then go on a run and lead 21-4 after the 1st and then 38-14 at the break.

The Bearcats began the 3rd on a 9-0 run and would kick in the running clock with about 3 and half minutes left to play and would lead 67-18 after 3 and go on to win 78-29. Aberdeen got some scoring in the 4th quarter with 6 from Annie Troeh and 5 from Maddie Gore including a 3 ball.

Leading the Bearcats was Drea Brumfield with 18, Kyla McCallum added 14, Morgan Rogerson and Olivia Remund each had 11, Madi Mencke scored 8 while Carlie Deskins had 6, Maliyah Lockwood 4 and Lexi Roberts and Mackayla Mencke finished with 3.

Central 2B Boys Basketball
Napavine 64, Toledo 47

(Toledo, WA) Coming into this game Toledo needed the win to put pressure on Kalama who they trailed by a half game for 2nd place in the Central 2b while Napavine is looking to finish with a flurry to climb up the standings and are now a half game behind Toledo for 3rd.

The Tigers jumped out to the lead in the 1st quarter and never looked back with a 16-8 lead after 1 and a halftime advantage of 33-22. Napavine would not slow down in the 3rd extending their lead to 49-35 and finishing strong down the stretch for the 17 point win. It was an early run that gave the Tigers their initial separation with the game tied at 6-6 a 10-2 surge to the end of the 1st quarter was a deficit the Indians could never dig out of.

Toutle Lake continues to lead the league at 7-0, Kalama is right behind at 7-1. Toledo is holding on the 3rd at 6-3 while Napavine has inched closer at 5-3. The wild card remains Adna who is nearing the end of a 14-quarantine due to a Covid issue sitting in 5th place at 4-0.
