10/10/18

Centralia Blazers 3, Green River Gators 0 (25-12, 25-18, 25-14)

(Centralia, WA) The Lady Blazer Volleyball team came into this match a couple of games out of 4th place and you need to place in the top 4 to advance to the NWAC play-offs. The Green River Gators came in 0-18 for the season so the Blazers not only expected to win they knew they had to win.

In the 1st set Peyton Timmons got things started with a 10-point run at the service line and they quickly took an 11-1 lead. Autumn Durand and Taviana Keahey supported the live serving of Timmons with great kill shots and blocks at the net and the Blazers cruised to a 25-12 win.

In the 2nd set, Head Coach Susan Gordon says they maybe got a little too confident as the Gators kept pace with the Blazers into the mid teens. Gordon has been a bit frustrated in some of the matches this season with the Blazers inability to close out tight matches. The Blazers bounced back in this one and closed with authority running off the last 7 points for the 25-18 win.  Gordon hopes that type of response sticks with the Blazers as they have some big matches coming up if they hope to make a run at the top 4.

In the 3rd set the Blazers again got in front and cruised to the win and clinched the shut out win. Also with big efforts in this one was Tianna Hanohano, Macey Martin, Kary Sathre, Stephanie Fried and Mayhala Kruse. Our Awards West Blazer of the Game went to Peyton Timmons. The Blazers will be on the road next at SPSCC.
