Centralia 55, Olympic 44

(Centralia, WA) This game began as a game of runs with Centralia jumping out to a 12-0 lead and very early on looked like this was going to be a run-away. But the Trojans had 2nd thoughts and put together their own 12-0 run to tie the game just before the end of the 1st quarter. The Tigers would get a late bucket and took a 14-12 lead but blew the big 12-0 advantage they had early on.

In the 2nd quarter once again the Tigers looked like they were ready to again take control when they went on a 5-0 run to take a 21-16 lead. The Trojans responded again but with a 9-0 run and looked like they would have a 6 point lead at the break but a late 3 by Rachel Wilkerson kept the Tigers close, down 25-22 at the half.

Centralia would then take jus 21-seconds to tie the game in the 3rd quarter with a 3-ball. But the rest of the quarter saw both teams go somewhat cold as Olympic could only score 9 but still held a 2-point lead until Kylie Sharp drilled a long ball with 3.5 seconds to play and Centralia re-took the lead and this time for good.

That shot seemingly triggered a huge 4th quarter led by senior Ellie Corwin who scored 11 and Sharp hit another 3. Rachel Wilkerson also chipped in 4 of her 12 points combining for a big 20 point quarter. Zoie Matheny tried to keep Olympic close as she led the Trojans with 20 points but the entire Olympic team went cold in the 2nd half and held to just 19 combined. Not helping the Trojans effort was a dreary 3-12 from the line.

Centralia improved to 6-2 and Olympic drops to 2-5. Our Pacific Sports Spa Players of the Game went to Centralia’s Ellie Corwin and Olympic’s Zoie Matheny both finished with 20 points.
