Union 41, Tahoma 14

One half is all the Union Titans needed to pull away from the visiting Tahoma Bears Friday night in an opening playoff victory.

If the State competition has not heard of Darrien Chase from Union, they will have now as the dynamic Junior WR had 3 TD catches.

On the night totaling 106 yards. Chases’ 31 yard TD catch and run after the catch electrified the crowd as Chase showed his speed and adept footwork in making several Bear defenders miss in his wake as he made his way into the end zone.

The second quarter was much of the same as Elijah Jones scampered 66 yards for another Titan TD and a 21-0 Union lead. Victor was not only accurate with his passes, his legs gave the Bears fits all night as he was able to buy time and find multiple receivers downfield and open lanes for himself as he ran one in from 6 yards that gave the Titans a commanding 28-0 lead.

The Union ground game with Victor, Jones and Siofele was just as effective moving the football at will however, Siofele left the game midway through the 2^nd quarter with an apparent lower leg injury and he did not return. Coach Rosenbach is hope Siofele can play next week as he is a big part of the Titans offense.

The Bears scored twice in the 2^nd half with a 3^rd qtr TD pass from Connor Lambro to Jerrel Champman for a 6 yard scoring strike. Lambro also found Tayvian Williams for a 21 yard scoring strike in the 4^th qtr to close out the scoring. The Bears conclude their successful season while the Titans advance to next week’s action where they will once again host their next opponent at McKenzie Stadium in Vancouver, WA. The game was broadcast live on ESN radio 3 with Dan O’Dell & Rodney Lawrence.
