Black Hills 49, Centralia 14

(Centralia, WA) After a slow start for both teams, Black Hills’ Connor Furu busted off a 60-yard TD run on the Wolves 3rd possession and never stopped running. The run triggered a ground game that racked up more than 450 rushing yards with the majority split between Furu with 183 on 12 carries and Jaden Toussaint with 203 on 23 carries.

With 1:51 to go in the 1st quarter the Wolves led 7-0. The shorthanded Tigers who were dealing with several missing starters due to injury came roaring right back when QB Joey Aliff hit Jose Pineda in stride for a 70-yard TD strike with 25-seconds to play in the 1st. Kolby Baird added the PAT and it was tied at 7-7.

That would be as close as the Tigers would get as the Wolves would dominate the 2nd quarter. On the next drive Black Hills took over on their own 34 and between Furu and Toussaint they moved down the field in big chunks thanks to some nifty running and big holes being blown open by the Wolves offensive line. Furu would cap the 2nd scoring drive with a 10-yard drive making it 14-7.

After an the Tigers threw an interception to Kade Weitzel, The Wolves put together another scoring drive with Toussaint plowing in from the 1. Black Hills would score one more time before the break when QB Christian Williams found Noah Brewer on a 44 yard connection making it 28-7 at the break. Black Hills had a chance to push it to 31-7 but kicker Drew Kimmel’s 43-yard field goal attempt fell about 3 yards short, but Kimmel was 7 for 7 on the night kicking PAT’s.

In the 2nd half it was all Toussaint who would score 3 more times on runs of 1, 11 and 7 yards. Centralia would hit the board one more time in the 2nd half when Aliff hit another big pass this time to Nathan Yahn on a 57-yard TD and the final score was 49-14.

For Black Hills, Toussaint finished with 203 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns and was named our Tommy Lowe of the Greene Realty Group Player of the Game for Black Hills. Jose Pineda took the award for the Tigers racking up 162 offensive yards with 95 on the ground and 67 through the air and 1 TD.

Connor Furu won our ProActive Play of the Game with his 60-yard touchdown run and finished with 183 rushing yards, 10 receiving and 2 TD’s.
