5/29/16
(Yakima, WA) Here are the Eli Sports Network Tommy Lowe of Greene Realty All-Tournament team. We have named 1 MVP, 5 infielders, 3 outfielders, 3 pitchers and 1 DH. Plus honorable mentions. ESN broadcast each game and we debated our top selections. This by no means is to take-away from anyone’s performance but rather to celebrate efforts that stuck out to us. So here we go and enjoy!
Tournament Most Valuable Player
Logan Hawkins, Vashon Island
Logan shined in this tournament pitching 5 innings of the Championship game limiting Hoquiam to 2 earned runs while striking out 5 and giving up just 1 hit. He also helped himself at the plate finishing with 3 hits with a double, a walk an RBI and 5 defensive put-outs. The all-around performance stuck out to us and Logan is our MVP.
1st Team All-Touney
Infield Zach Spradlin, Hoquiam
Zach was solid playing both Shortstop and 2nd base. He finished with 2 hits and an RBI at the plate with 5 put outs and 3 assists.
Infield Ryan Long, Overlake-Bear Creek
Ryan could have easily been named as a pitcher but his overall performance from the mound in the Semi’s to 1st base in the 3rd place game certainly put him on the 1st team.
Infield Ashton Dulfer, Vashon Island
Ashton had a great tournament at shortstop and the plate for the Pirates. He had 3 hits, a double, a stolen base, scored 2 runs and an RBI.
Infield Chester Pruett, Vashon Island
Chester handled the pitching staff from behind the plate for Vashon and had some pop in his bat with a double, 2 hits and 2 RBI.
Infield Jack Skinner, Hoquiam
Jack was a clear leader of this group who were not expected to get back to the Title game after winning it all last year. As 1 of only 2 seniors Skinner handled the pitching staff and had a hit with an RBI, scored a run and was hit by a pitch to get on a 2nd time.
Outfield Sam Schoenberg, Vashon Island
Sam had a tremendous tournament in fact was in the running for our MVP. Sam finished with 4 hits including a triple, 3 runs scored, 2 RBI, a walk and a stolen base and had 2 defensive put outs as a Pirate outfielder.
Outfield Sean McAlister, Hoquiam
Yes we know Sean is a pick for the outfiled but that high kick in his relief pitching performance, well we couldn’t pass up. Sean was big and was an MVP candidate with his defense and chipped in offensively with 2 hits, 3 RBI, a walk and a run scored.
Outfield Simon Perrin, Vashon Island
Simon won this for several reasons, even though he didn’t have a hit he had 2 walks in which he stole 2nd and scored both times. But his defense in center was huge including a big Sportscenter highlight catch against the Grizzlies cutting short an early rally.
Designated Hitter Levi Myer, Vashon Island
Levi did what a good DH is suppose to do make contact and put the ball in play. Myer finished with 2 hits, an RBI and a run scored.
Pitcher Skyler Jump, Hoquiam
14 strike-outs! That’s all that needs to be said about Skyler’s effort in the Semi-Finals against Freeman. A complete game, he gave up 3 hits and 1 earned run, 2 walks and 14 K’s. Skyler was in our MVP discussions for this effort.
Pitcher McKabe Cottrell, Freeman
McKabe was an MVP candidate as well for his pitching and offense. McKabe had a great outing despite taking the loss throwing a complete game, gave up 3 runs and struck out 9.
