United 3 White Salmon 1
(White Salmon, WA) The White Salmon Bruins had every reason to feel confident going into last night’s game sporting a conference 11-0 record. Some how United didn’t get the message and came ready to play 80 minutes of soccer. After 90 minutes of play, three yellow cards, and three injuries United would snap the 11 game conference win streak and leave White Salmon with an impressive 3-1 victory.
The Bruins opened the scoring with 11 minutes left in the first half as Luis Romero took a perfect pass from Ivan Cortes and found the back of the net for a 1-0 lead that the Bruins would take into the locker room.
Second half was a totally different game. United seemed to come out more focused and the defensive back four kept the ball in front of them the final 40 minutes. United spent a majority of the time in the Bruins side of the field and when that happens you usually score. At the 2o mintue mark of the second half the first of three United goals would come as Adair Gariby, Santos Balbueno, and Fernando Munoz all found the back of the net. It really was more of a defensive victory as United really didn’t allow the Bruins much room to operate as opposed to what took place in the first half of play.
White Salmon falls to 11-1 in conference play as United goes to 9-2-1.
