Centralia 7, WF West 1

(Centralia, WA) The Centralia Tigers were looking for a break out performance and boy did they get one on Tuesday night against their cross-town rival WF West. Binod Sapkota got things started in the 2nd minute when he took a great passing shot from Joseph Gonzalez and headed it past the Cats keeper Daniel Ford for a quick 1-0 lead.

The two teams then settled in for a long back and forth and looked like we may be heading to the break with a Tiger 1-0 lead and with the Bearcats still in the match. The final 6 minutes of the 1st half would undo that thinking and in a hurry.

Erik Ramirez in the 34th had a long rundown of a loose ball saved it then fired it under the outstretched arm of Ford and Centralia led 2-0. Laurence Silva then got into the act 4 minutes later just as the match entered stoppage time when Luis Madrigal back heeled a pass to Silva who popped it into the net for a 3-0 lead. Centralia was not done believe it or not they would score a 3rd goal in stoppage time when Javier Corona-Jacobo headed a corner kick from Madrigal and just like that the Tigers took a 4-0 lead over a stunned Bearcat squad.

In the 2nd half the Bearcats would knock the goose egg off the board when Drew Mann on a long run got into a 1-on-1 with Tiger keeper Jesse Vasquez and knocked it to the far corner for their lone goal in the 58th minute.

Centralia would shut the door on the Cats if they hadn’t already with Erik Ramirez’ 2nd goal on a great hustle play sticking with a long run he flipped a shot over the head of Ford and found the net in the 68th for a 5-0 lead. Ramirez would get his hat trick in the 77th when he took a pass from Silva and looked to try and settle the ball when he knocked it in for a 6-1 lead. Madrigal finished off the scoring with the 7th and final goal in stoppage time believing time was about to expire wound up and let one go from 25-yards out right into the net.

The Tigers improved to 1-3 in Evco 2A league play while the Bearcats dropped to 0-4. Our Tommy Lowe of the Greene Realty Group Players of the Game went to Erik Ramirez for Centralia and Drew Mann for the Bearcats. Our ProActive Physical Therapy Play of the Game goes to Binod Sapkota with his tremendous header goal to get the Tigers on the board in the 2nd minute.
