Central Kitsap 3, Capital 3
(Olympia, WA) It was Cougar vs Cougar and both teams were eager to get off to a fast start and both teams indeed did just that with 4 1st half goals scored in less than 14-minutes with 3 of them in the 1st 5 minutes.
Central Kitsap’s Kevin White got things started with a high floating shot from 25 yards out into the upper quarter for the unassisted goal just 2 minutes into the match. White would repeat the just 2 minutes later in the 4th minute but this time a longer, laser shot striking quickly shocking the Capital defense and trailed 2-0.
Capital wouldn’t take long to answer just a minute later in the 5th when Nigel El-Sokarry penetrated deep into CK territory and was fouled just outside the box and lined up for a free kick. El-Sokkary lofted the shot over the fence to the far side hitting for the goal past keeper Michael Barros, cutting the lead in half 2-1.
Logan Beachy would again take advantage of a long outside shot for the 3rd goal of the half for CK in the 13th minute when he took a crossing pass from Christopher Blanton and belted it past Capital keeper Sam Bigelow and CK would push their lead back to 2 goals 3-1 and that is where it would remain heading to halftime.
In the 2nd half Capital made a change at keeper and Alyx Racimo came in and he made it pay off immediately with a couple of great saves from long distance kicks of CK. The 2 teams were chippy with several warnings from the ref and a few yellow cards with both teams having good opportunities at putting the ball in the net but none would cross the endline until the 58th minute when El-Sokkary scored his 2nd goal with a brilliant shot from the left side of the box to the far right post. The ball would strike the inside of the post and check up like a golf shot on a green and just dribbled across the endline for the goal. Capital was down 3-2 .
El-Sokkary was not finished for Capital and in the 72nd minute knocked in a fabulous 35-yard free kick from the left side into the upper right corner tying the match at 3-3. CK scrambled back trying to find a way to get a winning score and at the same time keep the ball away from El-Sokkary. They managed to keep it away from the Capital scoring machine but could not find a way to push the ball past Racimo. Racimo’s 2nd half shut out in goal was good enough to win our ProActive Physical Therapy Play of the Game award.
Our Tommy Lowe of Greene Realty Players of the Game went to Central Kitsap’s Kevin White and to Capital’s Nigel El-Sokkary. CK is now 4-0-1 in Narrow’s League play and 4-2-1 overall while Capital is 2-1-1 and 3-2-1.
