Tumwater 53, Ridgefield 27
(Tumwater, WA) The Lady T-Birds pulled away after a slow start to end the young Spudders season in the Evco 2A pig-tail game. The Spudders played their 3rd game in as many nights advancing to this game after ending R A Long’s season on Tuesday night.
The more experienced Tumwater squad took a full quarter to find their groove over the Freshman dominated Ridgefield team but would gradually pull away adding to their lead in each quarter.
Tumwater led 7-4 after the 1st quarter and then held Ridgefield to 1 3-point shot in the 2nd to lead 18-7 at the half. Sierra Snyder would dominate the scoring for the T-Birds with 13 of the 18 points on her way to a game high 21.
Both teams would get their offenses going in the 2nd half with Ridgefield scoring 20 and Tumwater 35. The Spudders being outscored by 15 would stay close after 3 trailing by 14 with Kaia Oliver and Anna Murphy scoring all 13 of their points after the break.
Tumwater would have a more balanced attack in the 2nd half with 7 different players scoring led by Snyder’s 8, Mackenzie Bergquist knocked down 7 and Ali Smith chipped in with 6. Bergquist also came up with our ProActive Play of the Game with a hustle play from one end of the court to the other blocking an easy lay-up shot.
Tumwater improves to 8-13 and advances to the District Tournament and will travel to Mark Morris on Friday. Ridgefield had their season come to an end and finished with an 8-14 record.
Our Tommy Lowe of Greene Realty Players of the Game were Sierra Snyder for Tumwater and Anna Murphy for Ridgefield.
