(Lacey, WA) The Bears and Blazers met at Timberline High School with sole possession of 2nd place in the Narrows 4A league on the line. Both teams came into the game with 4-1 records as they wrapped up the first round through league play. Both teams lost to Bellarmine for their lone league losses and the Lions sit atop the league at 5-0.

As the game began the Bears jumped out on top. David Woodward and Hunter Sipe got things going to take an 18-11 lead but by the end of the quarter the Blazers would cut that deficit to 3 trailing 20-17. Olympia would again stretch their lead in the 2nd quarter as Sipe went off hitting all 3 of his 3-pointers in the 1st half as he finished with 19 through the 1st two quarters.

Timberline would make a run outscoring the Bears 9-2 in the final 2 minutes. Erik Stevenson led the comeback with 3-long balls and connecting for 12 1st half points while Jarryn Bush and Austin Curry each had 6 and it was a 2-point game at the break with the Bears up 33-31.

The 3rd quarter belonged to the Blazers as they took the lead with Jarryn Bush and Stevenson continuing to find the hoop and by the end of the 3rd Timberline had a 49-45 lead. The Blazers lead would be short lived as Olympia’s defense clamped down and Hunter Sipe was re-ignited finishing with a game high 28 points. Liam Murphy was instrumental down the stretch scoring 7 of his 9 points and Brett Thompson scored all 5 of his in the 2nd half. The Bears also went 10 for 15 from the line in the 2nd half to secure the win.

Olympia improves to 5-1 and 10-2 overall while the Blazers fall to 4-2 and 7-5. Our Tommy Lowe of Greene Realty Players of the Game were Hunter Sipe for Olympia and Erik Stevenson for Timberline and our ProActive Physical Therapy Play of the Game went to the Bears 4th quarter defense for limiting the Blazers to just 6 points.

Scoring:

Olympia: Sipe 28, Woodward 10, Murphy 9, Effland 5, Thompson 5, Beusch 4, Hernandez 2

Timberline: Stevenson 20, Jarryn Bush 12, Curry 11, Morton 10, Jaelen Bush 2
