Prairie 70, Centralia 57

(Centralia, WA) There is no doubt when you look at the Prairie Falcons girls basketball resume it is impressive with trip after trip to the Tacoma Dome with 6 State Titles. The Centralia Tigers are looking to find their way to State for the 1st time since 2004, yet both came into this game with identical 7-3 records.

The Falcons exploded in the 1st quarter scoring 5 straight 3-point shots, 3 by Grace Prom and 2 from Macey Hsu and the Falcons took a 15-5 lead. the two teams would finish the quarter even each scoring 5 points and Prairie led the Tigers 20-10 and the damage was done.

In the 2nd quarter the Falcons would extend their lead at one point to 20 as Natalie Whitesel started to hit from the inside as the Tigers extended their defense to try and slow down the hot outside shooting. Centralia began to slowly work back into the game. Madi Crews would lead the charge with 13 1st half points including 3 from behind the arc. Ellie Corwin  would counter with 7 from the inside and Centralia would pull back to within 13 at the break trailing 36-23.

In the 2nd half the pattern would remain the same the Falcons would pull away and the Tigers would make a run and in the end that 13 point difference at the half would remain at the final buzzer. Jozie Tangeman would score 9 of her 11 and Cherita Daugherty knocked down 5 while Whitesel added another 7 to her total to pace the Falcons.

The Tigers never gave up and got great efforts from Crews who added another 13 for a game leading 26 but also the Fast girls. Alyx knocked down 10 points while Maddie finished with 8.

Prairie improved to 8-3 while the Tigers dropped to 7-4. Our Tommy Lowe of the Greene Realty Group Players of the Game were Natalie Whitesel for the Falcons and Madi Crews for Centralia. Our ProActive  Play of the Game went to Grace Prom for her 3-point barrage in the 1st quarter that ultimately would be the difference in the game.
