(Rainier, WA) Junior quarterback Zach Lofgren rushed for three touchdowns as Rainier recorded its second consecutive shutout to start the season, 27-0, over visiting Raymond on Friday night.

Lofgren carried 16 times for 128 yards and completed three of seven passes for another 59 yards.  Ian Russell, who scored the Mountaineers’ other touchdown,  rushed for 160 yards on 10 carries and caught two passes for 47 yards.  He showed his versatility by kicking an extra point, running for a two point conversion and putting constant pressure on Seagulls’ punter Brandt Rockwell.

Lofgren capped an eight-play, 75-yard drive with a one-yard touchdown run to get the scoring started.  Before the first quarter ended, Russell gave the Mountaineers a 15-0 lead, breaking free for a 63-yard touchdown run.

Lofgren added a big play score of his own with a 65-yard sprint to the end zone on a second quarter quarterback draw.  Patrick Edwards was the workhorse for 0-2 Raymomd, rushing for 63-yards on 19 carries.

Rainier, which opened with a 45-0 road win at North Beach, has now outscored its opponents 72-0 on the young season. The Pacific Sports Spa Players of the Game were Rainier’s Zach Lofgren and Raymond’s Patrick Edwards and the ProActive Physical Therapy Play of the Game went to Ian Russell’s 63-yard TD run in the 2nd quarter.
